4 DAYS - MOUNT MERU CLIMBING

Mount Meru, located in Tanzania, is often overshadowed by its more famous neighbor, Mount Kilimanjaro, but it offers an exceptional climbing experience in its own right.

Mount Meru is a dormant stratovolcano 70 kilometers west of Kilimanjaro in the southeast Arusha Region, Tanzania. At a height of 4,566 meters, it is visible from Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day and is the fifth-highest of the highest mountain peaks in Africa.

Climbing Mount Meru presents several challenges, including altitude sickness, steep and rugged terrain, and variable weather conditions. Climbers need to acclimatize properly, stay hydrated, and listen to their guides' instructions to ensure a safe and successful ascent.

A climb up Mount Meru is a rewarding experience, offering stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, and a sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit. While it may not have the same fame as Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru's beauty and challenges make it a worthwhile adventure for outdoor enthusiasts.

Don't underestimate the Mt Meru climb. It is steep and technical, and a reasonable amount of fitness is required. There is only one way up, the Momella Route. It starts on the eastern side of the mountain and ascends along the northern side of the crater to the summit, the Socialist Peak.

Typically Mount Meru Climb takes four days, but it can be done in 3 days to complete a trek to the top as even on this lower peak, acclimatization is the key to success. All trekking groups take the same route up the mountain, which begins at Momella Gate.
